Chipboard is a wood-based panel, as defined in EN 309, produced under pressure
with heat and adhesives, by means of wood particles called chips or other wood or cellulose material in
the form of particles.

The European standard EN 312 class and type of panneau in different categories:

  • P1 – P2, for internal use as non-structural components in the old world (P2 is normally commercialized);
  • P3 – P5 – P7, for internal use as a non-structural component in a humid environment;
  • P4, for internal usage as a structural element in the sec milieu;
  • P5 – P7, for internal use as a structural component in humid environments;

Non-structural use corresponds to use made for, for example, the production of components for furniture or furnishings.

The term “structural component” refers to the use of the panel in load-bearing conditions
as part of a building or other construction.
